The mission of London School of Science & Technology is to provide opportunities for learning, personal and professional development and so make a difference to the communities we serve. With an emphasis on small classes and teaching through close personal contact we offer ample opportunities for interaction between faculty members and students. As a result we are able to offer students continuing guidance and support and help them identify and develop their skills and capabilities. The ACCA professional scheme is a highly relevant, targeted combination of study and practical experience. The syllabus is a result of extensive research and consultation with governments, students, colleges and employers from a range of public and private sector organizations.
ACCA (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants)
ACCA (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) is the largest and fastest-growing global professional accountancy body with 260,000 students and 110,000 members in 170 countries.
In 1904 eight people formed the London Association of Accountants, in order to provide more open access to the accountancy profession than the two existing accountancy organisations. ACCA went through a number of mergers and amalgamations over the years. In 1984 it became the Chartered Association of Certified Accountants to reflect the fact that, a decade earlier, it had been granted a Royal Charter of Incorporation.
In 1996 ACCA became the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA). ACCA Members, who are known as Chartered Certified Accountants, are employed in industry, financial services, the public sector, or in public practice. With statutory recognition in the UK and Ireland we have the authority to license our members to work as registered auditors. In the UK, we also authorise our members to undertake insolvency work. Outside the UK, we are recognised under the EU's Mutual Recognition Directive and in many countries around the world.
ACCA aim to offer the first choice qualifications to people of application, ability and ambition around the world who seek a rewarding career in accountancy, finance and management. ACCA deliver the qualifications in partnership with many organisations.
ACCA operate 18 joint examination schemes worldwide and work closely with nearly 400 registered tuition providers and over 6,500 employers of accountants and finance professionals. ACCA's reputation is grounded in over 100 years of providing accounting and financial qualifications. Our long traditions are complemented by modern thinking, backed by a predominantly young, dynamic membership.
ACCA deliver services to students and members through a network of nearly 80 offices and other centres, aiming to support them throughout their careers. ACCA use the expertise and experience to assist governments, donor agencies and professional bodies to develop the profession. ACCA aims to achieve and promote the highest professional, ethical and governance standards and advance the public interest.
