Course Description

Studying Computing and Information Systems will give you the fundamental skills needed to become an information systems professional. You will learn how to turn a proposal into a working system that can develop and grow to meet new and changing needs. It is the aim of the Diploma Computing and Information Systems to give you a wide appreciation of the subject, rather than just an understanding of existing commercial approaches, so that your understanding and knowledge can adapt and evolve to match the skills that will be required in the 21st century. The degree is designed for a wide range of students, including those who wish to pursue a career in software engineering or computer programming, those with a strong technical competence in information systems or students who wish to move on to study computing and information technology at higher degree level . No prior knowledge of computing is assumed.

Year 1: (Semester 2)

• System Analysis (H2)
• Network Concepts(H1)
• Information Systems Project(H2)
• Networking Technology(H2)

ASSESSMENTS

• You must enter the examinations in all five units
• Evidence that the course in Study Skills in English has been completed to a satisfactory standards is also required.
• Each unit is examined by a written paper or by a combination of written paper and course work
